On 15 December 2017, the Solar Decathlon Europe 2019 Selection Committee announced the selection of teams to participate in the competition. The jury unanimously appointed the HABITER2030 team to represent France in the competition.
Created at the initiative of the US Department of Energy, the Solar Decathlon is an international architecture, design, urban planning and engineering competition open to school projects. Its goal: to design the best solar house in a set time. In July 2019, the meeting will be held in Szentendre, a suburb of Budapest, Hungary. This event will bring together teams from all over the world.
The result of a collaboration between 14 French schools, the HABITER30 association brings together 200 students, teachers, trainers and professionals. The Project leaders : the École Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture et de Paysage de Lille and the Compagnons du Devoir. The objective of HABTIER2030: to take up the challenge of 100% solar energy by taking as a model the typical habitats of Hauts-de-France: the terraced houses of the industrial 1850-1950 century. They would number about one million in the region and would represent a major challenge in terms of rehabilitation, especially in terms of thermal insulation. The energy and environmental adventure will not stop at the competition for these young and ambitious professionals, since the prototype they will create will return to France after its two months of exhibition to serve as a demonstrator of the devices to be implemented to innovate in housing renovation.
The countdown is on for HABITER2030. In the meantime, you will be able to meet them on 12 and 13 April at the Nordbat Exhibition at stand G-35 in Lille during the Round Table: Energy renovation in Hauts-de-France: resources, assistance and obstacles on Friday 13 from 10:30 to 11:15.
